Meet Namirial at Swiss Police Informatics Congress 2025

The Swiss Police IT Congress (SPIK) is a key event for police IT, operational communication, and the networking of police forces and industry.

Each year, SPIK attracts IT experts and executives from police organizations as well as from the information and communication technology sector. The event is organized and managed by Swiss Police ICT, an association composed of representatives from various police forces and IT companies.

A crucial aspect of digital transformation in law enforcement is the use of electronic signatures. Within the framework of the Justitia 4.0 project, they play a fundamental role in secure electronic processing and archiving. However, some Swiss police forces still rely on paper-based processes, which are resource-intensive, inefficient, and not very sustainable.

A comprehensive digitalization of case processing can be achieved through the targeted use of regulated seals combined with the biometric characteristics of a handwritten signature. This optimizes the entire process—from data collection at the front line to archiving. Several Swiss police departments have already adopted electronic signature solutions. For example, the Zug Police has been using Namirial’s technology for three years to capture signatures efficiently.

In addition to accelerating procedures and ensuring seamless documentation, the evidentiary value of case documentation is also enhanced. From a forensic perspective, a combination of advanced electronic signatures, biometric signature features, and a regulated seal on the signed document offers even greater evidentiary strength than a handwritten signature on paper.

Even with the introduction of Article 78a StPO last year, which allows the police to document interrogations through audio or video recordings, the requirement for signatures remains. Protocol officers must still sign the reports they produce.

At this years SPIK, Bernhard Eitzinger, Pre-sales Manager, Andreas van der Linden, Sales Account Manager at Namirial, will be onsite and and will be happy to inform about the integration of Namirial products. You can write an e-mail to b.eitzinger@namirial.com or a.vanderlinden@namirial.com to make an individual appointment there.
