The Digital Identity unConference Europe (DICE) is an on-site only event at Trust Square in Zurich that brings together digital identity experts from business, research, government and politics from Europe and beyond. Among them are mathematicians, computer scientists, lawyers and business economists. The second edition in 2024 was sold out weeks in advance, based on the excellent reputation of the inaugural event in 2023 and a number of prominent active participants such as Paolo de Rosa from the European Commission, CTO for the European Digital Identity Wallet.
Due to the very positive feedback and the huge amount of stakeholder alignment required to establish and run the European Digital Identity Framework and Digital Identity in Switzerland, DICE will be held twice in 2025, with a second edition in early September. DICE is conducted in the Open Space unConference format, based on the notion that it is the people who make it happen. The agenda is co-created live on each session day. The most relevant and pressing issues from those who are making these initiatives happen can be shared and discussed. The key to effective alignment and interoperability is to have forums like this where no one entity “sets the agenda” and where all interested parties can come together in a neutral space and shape the agenda together.
As this is a true interactive workshop, rather than the usual staged presentations or panels, participants are asked to indicate their intentions when registering to ensure a highly engaged audience, as this is not an event for those who just want to sit and listen. Registrants need to outline the critical ecosystem success factors they want to discuss and what they hope to learn. More specifically, they need to list the key friction points that need to be discussed and addressed that are preventing large-scale adoption of verifiable credentials in key industries, and how they might be addressed collectively. The overall aim is to produce tangible outputs that will be documented in the proceedings and lead to dedicated actions.
Jörg Lenz, Head of Marketing and Communication, will participate in this event.
